It was even used to enhance potency. And after adding the secret to the perfume, they became more attractive and persistent. Because of this, there was a high demand for the substance and musk deer were almost completely exterminated. The extraction of the substance in large quantities ceased, and its prices rose significantly.
Now the secret costs almost 3 times more than gold. As it turned out, the substance can be extracted from muskrats, and some species of turtles. In order not to kill animals, perfumers have created plant-based, artificial analogues of musky aroma.
In Saudi Arabia, natural enzyme is produced on private farms. Deer are specially raised for this purpose. But they are not killed, but euthanized and the secretions are expressed through a catheter. Outwardly, it looks like a brown gelatinous mass. After processing, granular black enzyme is obtained.
It is incredibly expensive and can only be bought on the black market. To obtain 1 kg of natural product, 150 deer were previously killed. Therefore, a small bottle costs from $50,000.
