The evolution of the famous ambergris. These notes, originally derived from the natural secretions of sperm whales, are now reproduced synthetically. They have a special aroma, woody and oily with metallic elements, but at the same time slightly balsamic, with a typically erogenous animalic undertone. Overall, this synthetic derivative is a mixture of vanilla, labdanum, benzoin, Peruvian balsam, cistus absolute, patchouli and sandalwood.
What is oud?
Originally, Oud is a substance that is obtained from Aquilaria wood. Agarwood has a fragrant, resinous core that makes it the most expensive tree in the world. However, the world-famous oud (aka agar oil) is not an indicator of the good condition of the tree. On the contrary, the fragrant resin is a protective reaction to damage by bacteria or fungus – that’s what was appreciated.
